New Season, New Dawn...........

Well it is now upon us. We go into the season as champions but under a cloud, which will sure to get darker when the annual abusing of the chairman takes place when he hoists the league flag high.

Our pre-season debacle has left everyone wondering what the hell is going to happen this season and GS has probably lost all the goodwill that the doubters allowed him because he delivered the championship.

The pre-season world tour- still dates left get your tickets- looks to have snookered the wee ginger one’s plans with regards to his tough training regime. Too many games mean not enough time to coach and gel the players together.

The team in pre-season has lacked sharpness and any cohesion. The team has been left weak by the departures of experience that haven’t been replaced yet. It looks like for this month, a crucial month, we will need to fly by the seat of our pants with the young un’s setting the pace.

Off the park it is just as important than on it this year. The fact that UEFA have told the SFA to clamp down on sectarian chanting in games and the fact that r*ngers have got their knuckles rapped- mint again in the paper today spouting off- means that we are the prime target.

I also think it’s no surprise that the games where the political, or buckfast fuelled, element of our support are at their most vocal are or 1st three away games. Hearts, Inverness and Aberdeen. One’s a cocktail of hate and the others are long journeys made easier by copious amounts of drink and rebel tunes.

This season will be the 1st when a Celtic fan will lose his teamcard for his behaviour at an away game. I fully expect over the top polis at every away ground ejecting guilty and innocent fans and cautioning them with some law that the government have conduced to stop Islamic preachers promoting terrorism.

With Celtic promoting that everyone should have a team card, season ticket holder or not, Celtic now have the ability to bar anyone from CP. Celtic have done what Thatcher failed to do and introduced an I.D card, which will control whom they let to watch Celtic, reward those who spend vast amounts on Celtic and also Celtic have shown to the SFA, Uefa and the Scottish Parliament that they are taking steps to control who goes to the games.

You may say that they already control, but this is a tighter rein, this is almost dictatorship material. When the full teamcard system is up and running Celtic will take away the spontaneity of deciding to go to the game they will decide if you can go or not.

All it needs is a check of the card.

Was thinking about this the other night, that if Celtic wasn’t such a cause, wasn’t more than a club and wasn’t such a way of life for me, this, commercialisation, diluting and dispersal of the Celtic ethos would maybe see me give up and go and watch lower league football.

But I can’t and the reason is Celtic are more than I club. Maybe I don’t like what is happening but I will conform in my own way but won’t sign up totally for new Celtic fan experience. I also when I watch football not involving Celtic the emotional attachment is not there.

The emotional attachment begins again tomorrow. For the next 10 months or so, I will hurt when we get beat, will feel joy when we win and will take pride in performances of players who are playing for OUR CLUB. Something that we all want to do.

Remember what ever happens it is OUR club and we should be proud of that.

Hail Hail

Good points!
I don`t think that drink is an excuse for anti social behaviour, so if someone loses their season ticket because of their own actions then so be it.
I must admit that this commercialism does stick in the craw and seeing all those people wearing this new `International away kit`, I do feel that they`ve been duped but I waste money on things too!
I`ll conform in my own way too.
A good strong team that can win the 3 points, is that too much to ask for tomorrow?
The ticket reader system was working well on Wednesday, the only thing that was functioning!

Keep the Faith!

The shameless promoting of this international away kit has bugged me as well. We go to the states where guys want to see us in the hoops and we wear that kit. Two home games here and we wear that kit.

Away kits are for away games when we need to change, which is few and far between.

Another kit will be launched in the next few months I think a black and green stripe one. Think Athletico Madrid except black and green.

That means my all black top is out of date already. It was a birthday present I never bought it.

Drink and anti-social behaviour go hand in hand. It will be amazing how many guys blame the drink in the court on the Monday morning.

Strong team, good performance and hopefully a victory.

Team- Boruc, Telfer, Wilson, Mick and Caldwell. Jaro, Stan, Naka and Aiden. Miller and Magic.

With a bench full off youth and disco deek to come on and score.

Big Mick the captain too what a rise to fame for an average player imo.

Ps Has anyone seen Mulgrew, Wallace or Pearson lately? I think they were all last spotted at the Bothwell services trying to hitch a lift doon south………

Good post. Any other news today besides the possibilities of: Petko, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, and Anatolii Tymoschuk?

I'd be happy with all three- Tymoschuk could do a lot especially. Sure, I wouldn't be able to spell most of their names unless you spotted me the first 15 letters, but I can cheer 'em on anyway.

Why hasn't Stan P gone yet? Why are they holding on to a player that doesn't want to be there? If slimey Redknapp met the 5 mil, why not let him go?

Hail hail

Kingofcows- according to the celtic rumour mill

Graveson or Thommsuyk. With TommyG looking more likely.

Petrov is waiting on Villa as MON is odds on to get that job and he maybe joined by Thommo in the midlands.

Flash Arry has chucked in the towel with his bid for StanP maybe our bung wasn’t big enough. Also a wee rumour that Fulham are now interested and Monaco for the sulky Bulgar.

Nothing else but they are only rumours and until they are paraded big Dion Dublin is looking the safest bet the now…….

Fair points as usual Kevin

Unfortunately not going to see tomorrow's match as myself and the future Mrs Baldy have to go on one of these Pre-wedding Catholic retreat thingies that the local priest is insisting we go on. - Gutted!

Oh well As usual will wait and see new signings when they run out in the Hoops as we are linked now to everyone going, it's way too much hassle beginning to belive them all.

Enjoy tomorrow, cheer the flag and sink a few cold ones in celebration.

Dammit. Wish I could have seen the match. There are only two bars in this whole area that show SPL games. One of them wasn't showing it yet (they hardly ever show Celtic games- mostly just Rangers) and the second was 30 minutes away where the Virginia CSC is supposed to meet. So I get up at 6:30 am, drive half an hour to this bar- no one there. Not showing the game, not even open. No explanation. So I was stuck reading the BBC's delayed "live" text.

How did we look? The score says one thing but I'd like to hear more about our "new" style. Are we more fluid than we were in preseason?

will talk at lenght on monday about the whole day, but in spells we looked good.

hard to judge as i thought killie were poor but all new signings looked the part and it looks like a shame to break up Jaro and Stan P in the midfield.

harder test next week at tynie.

But the question is how can we be so inept in pre-season then so good yesterday?

1 performance doesn't make a season and our failings that were in pre-season are still there....

Are you sure that we looked good? The Killie manager remarked that the score flattered Celtic and that `it was nothing that they did`... `we did it to ourselves`!
Of course a rabid Hearts/Rangers man WOULD say that, woundn`t you Mr J?

I see Man U lost 2-1 at Preston on Saturday. Killie and Preston drew 1-1 last week.
It`s a funny old game.
