January Sales Anyone?

Hi Guys first of all Happy New Year to everyone.

On to the football and the game v Killie the other day was a bit better although still not great.

I watched the game in Dublin and Kev was in Tenerife so couldn't comment on the atmosphere or lack of it commented on by GS but after Motherwell and Dundee Utd i suppose getting 3 points and also the added bonus of a clean sheet were all that mattered.

The Motherwell game, i thought we had done the hard work without being great and didn't think they were really threatining us in the last few minutes until a daft mistake by telfer let them in. Worked out fine though with results elsewhere but still very annoying.

Against Killie, on the tv big Elvis looled calm and assured and never stopped shouting at his fellow team-mates which unlike pepe le pew, i like to see. Good we now have added cover which means big mick can get a well earned rest if need be. If O'Dea keeps on scoring at this rate he might end up our top scorer.

Talking about scorers its great to see JVOFH back in action, what a difference he makes and hopefully 90 minutes and a few goals against Dumbarton at the weekend will have him flying by the time we go to Tynecastle. I for one can't wait to see the Jambo's reaction to Pressley, they won't know what to do.

In this transfer window, i would love to like most fans see us sign someone who will score us 20+ goals a season. Stokes, Hoskins, Sharp, Gow and some 6ft 2 french guy have been mentioned but who knows. It was interesting to see GS say after the Killie game that he could see another "Dublin" type signing coming in. Was this a referal to Stokes and the place of his birth or does he have someone else up his sleeve to come in until the end of the season and do us a turn, any suggestions anyone?

Going out it looks like Thommo and Pearo could be offski. I never realised Pearo only had 5 months left on his contract and if this is the case anything over £500, 000 is a bonus and anywhere near £1,000,000 would be great. Don't get me wrong i like Pearo but he hasn't taken his chance when it's came and i don't think at CP he will ever get the run of games he needs and will get elsewhere to get back to his best.

Thommo was a great player for us and was a real favourite of mine but his time at CP is up, all the best if you go now Thommo and thanks for the memories.

Also talk of The Beats and Marshall maybe going to Hibs for Thomson or Brown, we will wait and see.

On a side note one of the highlights of Dublin was when i heard of the Le Pew and Wee Barry fallouts and the man who was to be the new captain at Ipox.

It was a Rae of light to a cold New Years Day in Dublin Haha.

Hail Hail.

Happy New Year, Seven!
My main memory is of him `toasting` Kenny Miller`s goal with a sip of water. Cool or what?
Under funding and self confidence didn`t balance each other out then?

happy new year iaininjesi,

i remember his reaction to miller's goal well.

how much do u think getting rid of le pew and his backroom staff will cost them.

clyde has got them signing webster on loan, thomson and brown within next 48 hours and wally and sally in as "dream team".

haha sixtaeseven, mission accomplished right enough.

Excuse me Seven, the crowd was earily quiet during the 1st half against Kilmarnock. Even the ref didn`t get us mad. The goal livened things up slightly. Bring on the Sons!
The media treatment of the R*ngers situation has been shockingly one eyed!
The club has been portrayed as getting things right again after that clueless foreigner messed things up. On Radio Clyde they denied that Ferguson had done anything wrong when it`s been commomly accepted that Ferguson was criticising Le Guen to whoever would listen for the past few months. They talk about a dream team and returning R*ngers into Scottish hands with no trace of embarrassment.
R*ngers have gained positive reporting without any circumspection or critical comment.
It`s often said that we get the media that we deserve. We must have been behaving badly!

i agree regarding the media coverage of the whole situation.

they heralded the arrival of le guen as a masterstroke then done the same half a season later when he was booted out, sorry mutually agreed to leave.

also i have heard a few pundits comment that prso is the man to become captain if they dont give it back to ferguson as he is the right type of character and man.

is this the same prso that gave a two fingered salute to the motherwell fans after getting sent off on tuesday, or did i just imagine that happened as i haven't seen it mentioned much in the paper.

imagine the difference if our captain neil lennon had done the same, the papers would have jumped on it and we would have the usual this man is not fit to captain celtic hysteria.

double standards anyone?

happy new year kev.

i hadn't heard that about stokes, he is good but if that is true i wouldn't at this moment pay £2.7m for him.

i know wot u mean reg brown.

i can imagine the atmosphere in there would be good, dublin was quite good atmosphere wise but because the game got moved to the 2nd it was a lot quiter when watching game cos the 2nd's not a holiday in ireland.

o'dea does look good, incidently i heard today he wants to be known as o'dee instead of o'day if that makes sense.

Unbelievable easy ride they are getting from the press (esp. SirD).

I just hopes this costs them a packet in compensation a) to agent LeGuen b) to SFA for waistcoat & joker.

As for the BBC with their 3 imminent signings patter - they are WORSE that the red tops! The huns WILL get Whittaker ON LOAN (what team does he actually belong to anyway?) BUT who else they're skint paying out compensation ?!?

Tommy Burns for Scotland? I would prefer he stays with us and looks after the young team.

aye burns does a good job at CP and would be a loss.

i always suspected webster would end up there. hopefully romanov complains and manages to get them to pay hearts some money for him as well.

it is weird big elvis in the hoops.

on CQN it says GS has stated that 2 bids have been made by us for players?

regarding the team for tomorrow i would go for:

ab

pt
ln
sp
do

am
jj
tg
dr

jvofh
km

and we should be looking for a good performance and a few goals into the bargain.

I think Stokes has a choice between Charlton and Sunderland both of whom have scored important goals at Wembley!(Bobby and Alan that is):-)
According to our boss (at CP today), the Bhoys have bid for two players but `the first word is never the last` when it comes to transfers!
Oh it`s a bit chilly today!

Oh aye, where`s the @ in the keyboard. I eventually found it when I was in Nerja! :-)
Big games on BBC tomorrow and Sunday in the F A cup. It helps us through the bleak mid winter.

Hoping for a strong team tomorrow as I think we are going to have to start skelping teams to get the confidence up (no disrepect to Dumbarton but if we don't put at least 4 past them, there's a problem).
I would like to think that CS will stop playing folk (like SP) who are for the off.
Definitely a rest for Naylor - a guy who seems to take a helluva lot of punishment for some reason - even if we don't have a lot of options at fullback.

Unfortunately we can't compete moneywise with ELP crappy teams - so Stokes won't be for us - pity.

However, I hope to God that some ELP crappy teams pay over the odds for the Hibee twins (or better still they stay where they are). I don't care if we don't get them but I don't want them going Govan way. Same goes for Gow.

I can understand you being against Rangers signing talent but relax, it`s not Laudrup, Gazza or De Boer that they`re in for.
Are they signing players from la Liga or the EPL? :-)

They've just signed somebody from the EPL... should I be worried about Whittaker?

webster is lost without elvis telling him wot to do.

sixtaeseven when i said i hoped sp would play i didn't mean pearson i meant steven pressley.

i think pearo has played his last game for the hoops.

i just got a text saying stokes is at CP just now, but don't known how true it is.

hopefully though.

yes a good convincing win today with a few of the forwards getting on the scoresheet.

5-0 at least and JVOFH to score a hat-trick.

Well 4-0 wasn`t too bad with a paying crowd of 18,500 people. Magic was magic but the presence of big Jan was important.
Anthony Stokes has decided to go to Charlton instead of playing in the SPL with the Champions.

Enjoyed finally watching a game (on Ch67) without any nailbiting!

Don't know why Lennon was playing today as we could have been trying out alternatives before next week's tough game against Hearts.

Sno played a stinker, but why play him in a holding role alongside Lennon against a team from the 3rd division?

Looks like we'll be going to Tynecastle with TG & JJ, which I would feel more comfortable about if they had had 90minutes together.

Pity about Stokes - but what is even more galling for me is that the likes of Charlton have more financial clout than we do.

Still, interesting times - we shall see how everything pans out for us in the xfer window, and at the sideshow down the road (they cannae fancy their trip tae Fife tomorrow - dodgy penalty to save their season, anybody?).

did anyone bet henke then?

i had a fiver on him and a fiver on the pars.

i think we did the right thing regarding stokes, we had a wage figure and pretty much stuck to it. there must be a limit to wot u want to offer these guys and if they don't accept then fair enough and we should move on to the next target.

it says on sky that the deal was for £3m.

surely that must include add ons for goals and int apps and can't be £3m right away?

livi in the next round of the cup, sub-station here i come.

thats your favourite away ground isn't it kev haha.

Three hard league games to worry about before the cup.
All the managers complain about the transfer window but it does provoke lots of comment and interest for us fanatics.:-)
Is this you home, Kevin? Good holiday?

I think that `the boy` Stokes is going to Sunderland now. Fair play! Gary Irvine has come back to Celtic with the hope of getting a game at right back. Another Irish reserve,Diarmiud O`Carroll, is going up to Ross County until the end of the season.
Pearo may be off soon, life goes on!
30th!
