The LOTW Diary- Hoops 0 Them 1

Congratulations……You Have Won 2nd Place Not The World Cup

But to watch them at the final whistle yesterday you would have thought they had. All their chest thumping and top throwing was as embarrassing as another Lenny rattle oot the pram moment. Yes, sir listening to the slavering hoards last night that are usually not seen after derby games the peepell are back.

Tradition, fighting spirit and the cause are all buzz words. Wally and Sally have got them all in a laver over there emergence as a “force”. Let them dream even though they got a result yesterday that was doon to oor failings rather than them and the fact that yesterday was the best opportunity to beat us for a long time. If they had failed to do so you may as well have switched off the lights on Scottish Fitbaw.

Still nice to see their traditions of thuggery and jammy-ness are alive and well in the form of Adam, Bazza, Weir and Ugo. Don’t play fitbaw just boot the better players. Bring it on hopefully we will have learned something from yesterday for the return at the brox.

With a return to their traditions it is easy to hate them again. I only have to look at the wee fat oaf on the touchline wie the shorts on now to get ma blood boiling. After years of feeling sorry rather than hate the return of custodians means a return to doon right hatred.

Hope the get their comeuppance Oh so suna.

Celtic fans are racist

One wag returning from CP yesterday let slip that the hunny hoards had complained aboot racist abuse being dished oot from us towards their new Gough Ugo. When he was pulled up aboot these comments he went on to say monkey noises were audible in their end.

Biggest load of bolloxs I have heard. Mind you it wouldn’t be the first time monkey noises had been heard in their end right enough.

When the wag was asked aboot the dambuster actions towards Naka, which he found funny and the Big Jock Knew banner, which he says was true he was nonplussed. With guys like him willing to drag their support lower into the gutter it’s no wonder that bigotry is alive and well in Govan.

With those to actions they sunk to a new low…wonder if any of the meeja will come oot of wallies arse long enough to comment?

Lack Of Options

We had seen the story before. Played them off the park miss, chances and eventually succumb to a stoppable goal and leg weariness a few home truths were spelt oot.

We require a goal scorer to take the pressure of the one legged half fit JVOH. Miller, The Beats and Magic have been tried and failed. KM yesterday was oor seeeebo. After his mouthings regarding getting a regular game his performance just backs up the managements judgement that he deserved to be dropped.

Oor midfield lacked drive and unfortunately for us Tommy G and Hartley to men who would have added drive was oot. Sno and Lenny are peas in a pod but have no creativity whatsoever. Sno plays wie the shackles on when Lenny is there and Lenny disnny compliment Sno. With oor wide players having an of day we required something different from the middle instead we got panic and raggedness when we went a goal doon.

GS should have changed it earlier and the introduction Jaro in a midfield roll not up front could have made a difference. Then again the tank was empty by that point wie JVOH making there back line look like players and or wide players not wanting the ball.

The introduction of Riordan was a little to late even though he went close wie one effort he came into a team befit of ideas except punt it up and hope for the best. Mick up front was an embarrassing tactical switch and showed how desperate we were.

But saying that the run we have been on we have one games we shouldn’t have. Oor luck was going to run oot and we were going to pay for a dodgy performance one of these times. Why did it have to be yesterday though?

Jungle Boys v The Green Brigade

Nice to see these two groups adding a bit of colour to the proceedings yesterday. The JB’s banners are smart and full of tradition while the GB’s banners are witty and European. After the game in the midweek it was nice to see banner displays like that and hopefully both groups will continue with their efforts.

Maybe Celtic will gie them some dosh to spend rather than actively trying to chance one of them from the ground eh?

The Final Word

I’ll leave it to Frankie bhoys love child Aiden McGeady…

“if we had put oor chances away it would have been a different story but they got their goal and were up for it. They will be buzzing now they have beaten us, but over the season the STATS DON’T LIE”

From previous diary

Six- maybe I was a bit harsh on Naka but for me he would grace any league in the world but maybe not for the big clubs in the big leagues. Can you really see Madird, Barca, Man Utd or even Milan coming knocking for him?

He is quality there is no denying but not up there wie a Kaka. Yes I’m thankful he is at CP and hopefully he will be for a few years yet.

Agree wie yer Seville assessment I think the talent in the side is more balanced and dare I say better in certain areas.

Wie regards to second place it hink the sheep are a poor side and the uglies would have got that spot on their own.

I’m bothered aboot the result make no mistake but revenge is already on ma mind when we go to the brox. So what if the league is won we let the worst hun team in eons come to oor patch and beat us…that’s not allowed….

But natures of derbies means these results happen.

Woops! What happened to my post? Ah well.
It was a day to forget. In the first half we saw that to have a fly wee kick after the ball is played is allowed. Tone set by ref!
Second half we were starting to weary and the loss of the goal was too much for the team. Artur got the body shape without engaging arms. In fact he was unbelievably casual in the pre match. Jim Blyth and Mark Brown were very patient with him. Sharpen up big fella!
Anyway if the Bhoys had scored that error of judgement wouldn`t have mattered so much.
I don`t pay much attention to their fans but they are pathetic going on sad. Although it was happy to be sad time for them yesterday!:-(

Just got an e mail from Daniele in Milan.
Hope your friends got the tickets from the bank.(Did you?)
Spent some time with people from the Green Brigade, do you know them? (me, no!)
The 120 minutes on Wednesday must have taken their toll on us too. The second half against Inter was poor. (H/T 1-0, F/T 1-2)
Bayern is not too bad a draw.

after the goal i thought Arfur could have done better..then i got it confirmed by guys who saw the game on tv.

Thought he could have done slightly better in Milan as well. Maybe his minds elsewhere.....

Yes got tickets from the bank...got ma stub on ma PC at work to remind me of guid times...

Don't know any of the green brigade either...

watch AC's game last night they tired also in the 2nd half but Maldini was poor very poor.

hi lads,

sorry iain i think i may have deleted your post by mistake i hit the wrong button.

i got my ticket for the san siro from a hotel and as kev said ended up next to him.

the banks had apparently sold out.

once we got in it was ok but outside it was a farce and a free for all.

reg the seville team i believe that it would hammer any of they 2 teams from yesterday no problem.

reg the game, we were playing well but totally lost the plot after they scored.

we are crying out for a bellamy, robbie keane, larsson type of quality forward to partner big jvofh who is knackered.

i actually believe big sno gets a lot of unfair stick.

for a 19 year old i think he is having a great season and will get better and better.

i do agree though that him and lennon doesn't always work.

we were badly missing hartley and tommy g.

i think priorites for next season should be a top drawer striker, a quality midfielder and does anyone else think we could benefit with having an out and out winger to get better crosses into the box.

Hi Seven,
there is still some work to do before the title is sewn up.
I`m not sure that an out and out winger is on GS`s shopping list but Hutton was able to run past McGeady and Naylor yesterday. Up until the goal it was Rangers` only out. The team was lacking in strength.
Sno is doing fine but I`m not convinced with the partnership with Lennon for taking the game to teams.
Gravesen and Hartley will give energy and what about Zurawski?

Sno and Lenny are great when we are not trying to open teams up....but IMO we won't improve until Lenny goes.

Great man but Sno should now be the heartbeat wie a.n other alongside. Thtas if we don't sign another defensive mid.

GS will play Lenny as long as he is there same problem as MON had in his last season.

I saw the goal on TV and Big Mick was barged to the ground by Ehiogu just before the ball broke back for the shot. Just as we all thought at the game!
Strange how the ref found fouls in the box so easy to spot near the end when Celtic had corners.
Am I becoming bitter and twisted?

lennon is always the scapegoat after every defeat.

i have been hearing his legs are gone, he is too old, slow etc etc since basle beat us 2-0 years ago and it has been the same ever since.

surely a 35 year old who can last 120 minutes no bother v ac milan and not look out of place is good enough for another year in the spl.

we are crying out for a bit of invention in the midfield but squad wise we need all the good players we can get and lennon is a good player with bags of experience.

it was a push on big mick and it is strange why it wasn't given when everytime celtic got a corner a foul was given for less.

ps i think lennon was right to give that ungrateful so called supporter a bit of abuse back. i would also hate to see a captain of ours not be sick at losing to rangers.

Lennon has ben great for us, but like the vast majority of Tic fans we hope he does the right thing and bows out on a high after the Cup final.

Even hanging around an extra year (a la Paul Lambert) even on reduced wages shouldn't be an option.

It's been mentioned before here that we won't progress while he's still here - I think one of the reasons we don't get those 4 or 5-0 results nowadays is that we have don't have an offensive enough midfield.

Guys like Sno, Hartely, Graveson, and maybe even Jiri in his propoer poition give us more options.

Once the league is officially tied up, get everybody focussed on (& well rested for) the Cup final & Ipox.
How good would it be to see a rejuvenated Majic alongside a fully fit Jan ?

Everything else should be for giving the youngsters a run out (something GS failed to do last year).

Take back what I say about NL, regarding an extra yaer. It could be an option as club captain and backup, but mainly due to what he can bring to the dressing room - a lot of our bhoys are just, erm, boys.

But it's up to the man wi' the cheque book to decide how much that's worth -- he's been bitten once, so Lenny won't get a 5star Lambert deal that's for sure.

Don't think GS will go this summer, if that's what you mean by dug out changes - he'll be wanting and another crack at CL last 8, not to mention 3 in a row.

And talking about dug out changes (see what I did there?), what about oor old pal PLG? He's managed to steer PSG straight to the relegation zone: 19th in a 20 team league - which is arguably worse than 3rd in a 2 horse race.

All of which gives us a fair measure of the diddy cup, as PSG are still in with a chance of last 8 along with the uglies (2-1 up from the first leg from ... Benfica, unrecognizable from the CL games - saw the game live here - two very poor teams).

And talking about uglies (see what I did there again?), the sooner that Wally & Sally get booted out the diddy cup the sooner I get to feel better.

Hoping the sheep win tonight, keep the pressure on -- could be a few reds on Saturday :o)

It is true that GS has said that 3 years is enough at any club these days. That was while he was in the EPL grubber, though. :-)
That`s just a wee bit of chat, the real action will be on the pitch as we go for our own (aye us, the supporters) SPL glory.

i honestly believe that anyone who would rather have jarosik in their midfield before neil lennon is mad, that is my honest opinion.

i think hartley and tommy g might be good only thing is they both like to go forward but maybe that would work. i just feel if u have naka and mcgeady in the midfield and say hartley u need a more defensive lennon type player in their as well for a bit of balance even in the spl and altho i believe sno is progressing well i don't think he is ready to play every game.

i think the seville team at their strongest which was probably the next season after seville when we won something like 25 games in a row after drawing with dunfermline on the opening day of the season would destroy us just now.

i agree with boruc they would have been unstopable. unfortunately i don't think too many of our current team would get in that team before the strongest players from back then.

i also agree sooner they get humped out of europe the better. i am going to back osasuna half-time full-time tomorrow. i fancy 2-0 as well.

i don't know wot riordan has to do to get a start upfront.

i agree reg magic. i have been so disapointed in him this season. i thought last season he was a really good player who would be even better this season and if he could stay injury free would score 20+ but obviously he is injured and he just hasn't looked the same player when he has played.

i think benfica will still go through as they are very strong at home.

i put £2 on osasuna to win the cup as soon as it was them or bordeaux v the h*ns so here's hoping they can go all the way.

see henke was captain of the european team tonite v man utd.

Glad to see Aberdeen still in the hunt for second spot. Keeps the pressure on the uglies and sets the scene for a crunch game on Sayturday.
Hopefully their luck finally runs out tonight.

For the poor folk of Pamplona, it will be a real novelty: cloven hooves and horns and carnage in the streets and the bulls are all locked up. 2-0 would be nice although I'll take 0-0.

Something wrong with the coefficient system all the same, as it stands Celts chalked up 11 points for the CL campaign, the huns have got 13 points and they've no' played anybody yet !
Shurely shum mishtake ?

Just had a look at the UEFA tables, the 3 teams from Rumania have rattled up 34 coeff pts on the strength of their diddy cup run!

Somebody in Nyon (probably Andy Roxburgh) must have forgot to devalue the points when they introduced the group stages and let all the intertotos in.

Wouldn't bother me much, but just makes you wonder about their system when a big part of season hinges on how the seedings go for the CL qualifiers, difference between pot 2 or pot 3, etc.

Anyway, back to Beats - even if fit ,I'm not sure he's done enough to be in the squad (either that or there's a real derth of strikers - is Naismith nae good, nae Scottish strikers in England these days?).

is the boy u mean at colchester chris iwelumo. if so i played against him in my younger years whilst playing in the paisley & district league and he played for a team from prestwick/ayr. he does seem to score a lot but is always overlooked.

i think the guy at sheffield wed that played for the h*ns is steven mclean but not sure how he is doing.

reg lennon fair enough celtic-mes i know were u are coming from.

kev-i don't believe anyone should be a must starter but i do believe his experience should guarantee him another year. as u say tho he might not accept this after being one of the main men for so long if he isn't a regular starter.

sixtaeseven-that is shocking reg they points. surely u dont get the same for beating man utd/benfica as u do for beating maccabi haifa/partizan belgrade.

reg jiri kev, i hope i am wrong but i think he has had enough chances in the midfield. he looked great in the kilmarnock game on the opening day with stan p but the next week v hearts he was as u said like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

i think he has got some lovely touches and a bit of skill im just no sure if the style up here will ever suit him altho he seemed to do ok for birmingham last season.

he is definetley a bit of an enigma.

iain-says in paper today magic is finally back in training.

wonder wot our starting line-up will be for sunday.

i would like to see a bit of a freshen up throughout the side.

Feel a bit better this morning, justice has been done, the uglies have been shown the door and their season is over.

And talking of justice... wonder how UEFA will react to the latest bout of "fan" behavior ?

With a bit of luck, they won't even get in the door next year & they won't get a sniff of OUR CL monies.
So even the Mint's masterplan of securing 2nd place in the spl would come to nowt.
Loving it...

It's a long time till Sunday...
befor that I've got to suffer Fr v Scot at Stade de France on Saturday, but should be good for a beer or ten...

Would like to see Majic alongside Jan all the same - as long as he stays in the box and stops running diagonally toward the corner flag - won't score many from there.

I only watched the half time comments and saw the first 3 minutes of the second half (penalty?)and things were set up for another flukey win. When I switched on again at the end I could tell by their faces that it hadn`t worked out.
Still time to apply for a ticket for the UEFA cup final on www.uefa.com
The closing date is tomorrow.
