The Lotw Diary- Champions
That just summed up oor season. A guid first half coupled by a dodgy second and won wie a last minute bit of genius. It was a fitting end to the longest title precession in history. One, which captured the essence of “Team 2”, bottled it and sprayed it on like a cheap aftershave to all the rest of the SPL.
And it was magic.
As the Killie hoards sang, ”we’re only here for a party” again gloating in oor shortcomings, the wee genius, again, stepped up and done what he does. A free kick that wrong footed EVERYBODY in Scotland never mind Rugby Park. I must admit I went mental. Mrs G was embarrassed at ma reaction so was Faither G. The boy next door who had come oot to wash his car in his r*ngers top when Killie equalised went back indoors, tail firmly between his legs.
When we look back on this season two Naka moments will live long in the memory. Yesterday and that glorious night against Man Yoo. When we look back on the season we will need to remember that doing the double dunter unbeaten home and away against the SPL. We will be impressed by the fact that we came back after the CL games and never crumbled. That’s when this team earned it’s right to be called champions. Not over the last few weeks.
Yesterday was not a day for grumbles…but I have two. GS acting like a politician trying to be loved wie his kiddie snatching routine, wee man yer team does the talking for you stop trying too hard to be loved and also his strange sub of Gravesan for McGeady. But two in a row makes up for that.
The celebrations were magical; the feeling I got was of immense pride and also a little embarrassment that I have maybe been hard on the players over the last few weeks. A lot to build on but also yesterday performance proved a lot of work still to do.
But geniuses win games. And we are lucky that we are in the financial position that we can buy geniuses. The embers are there that we are maybe just starting to produce them and it’s up to oor man to ensure that they fufill that promise.
Hung-over and proud…..FORZA THE CHAMPIONS

Honeslty my friend, good post but do you not think Gordon might just have been doing something nice because he felt like it? He did it last year as well when he brought the backroom staff out.
Give him a break, on this champion morning:)
maybe mate maybe...but i did find it cringeworthy...as did all that i spoke to yesterday. i also found his comedy routine bemusing last year as well.
but i'm sure the children he picked will remember it for the rest of their lives..and i am giving him a break.
i feel a bit bad for the fact i found it cringeworthy maybe i just missed something.
but on this champion morning i'm looking forward..naka naka naka...
oh ma heid...
Yes, if it had been my kids I'd have been delighted for them. Or jealous. Maybe I'm just an old sentimentalist at heart...
At least you know you're not alone wi' the heid. And next month we'll have a reason for doing it all again.....
Mibbe we'll have learned to play football again by then. (We might have to.)
1st half yesterday i thought the formation was guid. it was attacking and gave us more movement than in recent weeks.
2nd half was back to the recent norm but this time we had a bit more purpose when we had the baw. the possession stats for the last 15 mins i think were 70% to 30% for the hoops.
hopefully we will get the shackles off now....
bottle of Oasis drunk, tablets took and i have just noticed that the bottle of water i have bought is called "saka".
no long until lunch time.....
What about the President then, eh ?
do you mean GS or Mr Quinn launching a wee dig at them across the city?
erm, JFK ?
I must be getting old because I thought the bit with the kids was a nice touch. Those bhoys and ghirls will remember that for the rest of their lives.
Good spot on the Killie fans. First they sing that they are there for the party, then when the party started they all left. I wish they'd make up their minds.
Sorry, I should have guessed that one. Ma brain is a bit slow today…the caffine rush of the Cola at lunch has now worn off. Bed and some well earned sleep I think is in order after work today.
Fantastic for the big fellow. He slotted in superbly and to think we all questioned his ability to come back. One swallow disnny make a summer though and I’m sure there is still a lot of hard work to do for the lad before he reaches what he would call his peak.
But wie O’Dea, Mick and JFK then oor CB future looks homegrown and bright.
Re GS wie the kids I thought ma reaction to it would have been the norm but the view of the net is that it was a great gesture. It certainly wasn’t viewed that way in the boozer after the game yesterday. Think I have a cynical view- me a cynic never:-) – of it in this election run up.
Maybe got confused between Fitbaw managers and politicians…I mean both are in it for personal gain and not adverse to the odd bung are they?
Maybe I’m jealous…..nae manager has ever put me on the pitch to celebrate wie the team:-(
