He*rts 2 Rebels Won.......
Right lets get my rant over with first. I hate He*rts. I hate them almost as much as I hate r*ngers. I hate the way their jumped up fans, manager and chairman over-react to any result, nothing is won and loss in the 2nd game of the season, and really wish they would crawl back under the dirt where they belong. I really want them all to be put in a submarine and sunk.
But most of all I hate the way they were better in every department than us yesterday.
Football is a simple game. You keep possession, make good decisions when your in dangerous positions and make sure your concentration is tip top then you’ll win more games that you lose. Celtic did none of that yesterday.
1st goal, slack pass in the middle of the park allows he*rts possession and the chance to exploit the space left behind by Telfer, who had not a bad game, the ball is played into this gap and lack of communication between Mick and Caldwell, both didn’t do much wrong all game, allows Bebnar a free run on goal, which he finished well.
2nd goal, as the game is drifting to a nil-nil we regain possession in the middle of the park, few passes later Lenny decides to pass the ball back to the goalie from the halfway line. It’s short, Arthur bolts from his goal but Bednar was always odds on and it’s 2 points dropped.
It’s one thing losing goals to the other teams creativity but gifting them two goals is bloody annoying.
Celtic played for a 15 min spell after we equalised but overall we were not good enough. Our passing was shoddy, we couldn’t hold our water and our decision making in the final 3rd was non-existent. We worked the ball well at times into dangerous areas only then to give up possession easily or make the wrong choice of pass.
The team fielded was good enough to beat an unadventurous and not very fancy He*rts side. Our defence handled their long ball tactics and power plays well, if only we could have been a bit sharper and more creative when we had possession.
The Argentineans place as much importance on keeping possession as scoring goals. It’s something that has to be worked on in the coming weeks, as European teams will kill us if we give them the ball back. Hell St Mirren could kill us if we give them the ball in dangerous areas.
Overall it was a poor game, littered with mistakes by both teams, two costly ones for us, and the only bit of flowing football came from us for a very well worked goal. Only time in the game we played at pace and had a bit of vision.
If GS is going to follow his football, Arsenal style ethos, then there are games like yesterday when it’s not going to click. Problem was there wasn’t a plan B when plan A was failing. To play football that way you need a balance that’s something that playing Wilson at LB doesn’t bring.
No surprise then that a good flowing performance last week was replaced by disjointed wing play and stuttering display this week.
We will miss Petrov, he was the legs yesterday as Jaro looked like a rabbit caught in headlights at the frantic pace of the game and constant by passing of the midfield that He*rts employed. For Jaro to be a success he needs an ankle biter and a nark alongside him, not a Petrov style player.
Only good thing to take from yesterday is that hopefully the team that started won’t be the team when He*rts come to CP later in the season.
If it was bad on the park it was worse off it. As the 2100 dunderheids in our away support gave away the chance to win the moral high ground with their display. Only took them 13 mins for TBOTOB, followed by the Celtic symphony then for good measure topped of by Forever and ever.A statement of intent I think from them and this must make Celtic minds up on how to tackle this problem. Banning all that got tickets for the game would be a start and 2100 season tickets up for sale would put the tin lid on it.
The support knew how we would be portrayed if they sung songs our society deems, rightly or wrongly, unacceptable. Except they couldn’t just sing Hail Hail and the Wullie Maley song for 90 mins. Couldn’t see through there buckfast / drunken haze what damage they could cause to Celtic.
Greatest fans in the world my arse, can see points deductions and CP being shut before the season out. Time to shape up and if they can’t ship them out. Cause if it continues we will end up being as bad as them………

Yesterday was just poor across the board.
Players, fans and management all need to look hard at themselves.
We are in danger of sliding back into mediocrity here and allowing ourselves to be dragged to the same levels as TFOD.
Many of those fans moaning about the away support, why don't they apply to go? I can get tickets to most away games through my supporters Club and when I used to apply for away tickets with my mates we got a fair share throughout the year and that included getting tiockets for Snake Mountain on a number of occassions.
Time for the fans to stop the whining and be pre-active. However knowing the abuse that is screamed at you from the Roseburn Stand in Gorgie and the closeness of the CSF to the away support. It's hardly surprising that the 'Old Favourites' were belted out when you consider the drink that was probably drank prior to the game.

Knew yesterday would be the most “at risk” atmosphere apart from Ibrox. It was up to the fans to take a step back and not rise to the occasion.
But I know how hard it would have been not to. Read on a few sites that the people who were there didn’t think nothing to untoward happened and if anything the response by the hoops fans was muted.
Must have been a bloody big boom microphone in front of the Celtic end then.
When you go to away games from experience you see the same faces, from the same buses. Celtic know who they give the tickets too as the scheme is set up to reward the same guys that go week in week out.
Your right if you want to change the away support then go and shout down these “fans”. Tickets are available for most away games and you only really struggle for Tynie, Ipox, Aberdeen, Falkirk and Inverness.
Think you will notice that when we struggle for tickets the “vocal” minority are the majority in those stadiums.
On the park never got carried away last week and I’m not going to get carried away this week in defeat. End of the month I will get carried away if there is no movement to improve quality….

How about every Celtic supporter in the world sends in a pound to try and help buy a LB and CB? Would they even spend it? Probably not- they'd just use the money to book a flight to play an Australian cricket team the Mon before our first CL match...

the team line up and tactics were shocking yesterday.
i believe anyone with any idea of wot football is, knows u don't go to tynecastle with our current squad against that current hearts team and play 4 guys in your midfield who all naturally want to attack especially when 2 of them are very lightweight.
Their midfield was easily better than ours and if hartley had been playing it would have been a lot worse. mcgeady and naka was never going to work against them.
The midfield we started with yesterday works at home v smaller teams but not in arguably the toughest league away game of the season.
im pissed off as with the right line up yesterday we could have won.
strachan's comments about he couldn't change a winning team were a lot of crap as well as if that was the case were was camara.
why didn't riordan get on at any stage when miller was clearly nowhere near 100% fit.
strachan has went on all pre-season about how he desperatley needs more experience in his team then in our 1st big game of the season he leaves out his captain and arguably most experienced man.
shocking.

I think that most people reckon that Lennon is not needed in home games against the smaller teams. However he is needed for away games at most venues. Managers are like that, Strachan seemed to talk about our playing style. Style is okay but at Tynecastle with the home team snarling in our faces it becomes instantly irrelevant. Wasn`t that the prompt for bigger, stronger, faster?
Anyway I`m sure Man U or Liverpool would`ve won easily at S`castle but downsizing doesn`t come alone.
As for the away support, probably a lost tribe of 20th century traditionalists who consider themselves as bastions of the Celtic way.
I`ll stick to home games although I and my friends ARE on the away ticket register. The last time we had tickets for Ibrox was 2000 (Pre Martin) when we lost 4-0. :-(
I remember travelling to Kilmarnock on a supporters bus in 1998 and witnessed fathers swearing and singing pro IRA songs in front of their unfortunate children. Away games? No thanks!
It`s bad enough listening to the radio.

i would honestly have lennon as one of the first picks in the team home or away. i think he is a brilliant player and a lot of his work goes unnoticed by a lot of people.
fair enough he isn't getting any younger but as we have learned with bbj if u let these guys leave, that a lot of the fans take for granted, then it is very hard to replace them without serious money.
i would include balde in that as well as when he is missing we always struggle but when he is there a lot slag him off.
the decision to let bbj leave is getting stranger by the day.

Well seven I thought you would have calmed down after your intial text messages following the game but time isn’t a great healer eh?
Lenny is a funny one. I fully agreed with the decision not to play him on Sunday. In hindsight was probably incorrect but ask yourself this Hearts tactics were to get in behind the Celtic defence with long balls. They did not play through the middle of the park.
There set was of 2 wingers and 2 very defensive midfielders. No-one was breaking from the middle, which in turn would have made Lenny a spare man.
On the other hand he would have been useful for us to retain possession for possession sake, which would have been nice as Hearts 2 defensive mid won the ball back easily from us.
We have to move to a faster, fitter stronger style, which we need to be able to play anywhere and circumstances mean that this week Lenny will probably play.
But then that will depend on who leaves this week. If Stan P goes Lenny is a shoo-in. If Pearo goes then I’m getting my car park heid on……..
The revolving door is going to go into overdrive this week, which it should have done weeks ago. If Camara, Pearo, Virgo and anyone else who gets shipped out this week is deemed not good enough then what has happened to change the fact that a few weeks ago they were good enough to play for us?
Why did BQ and PL state there is money to spend and to all watchers it’s quite obvious we have sod all money to spend until we sell Stan P and Pearo.
Is Pearo a victim of circumstance? Why is Thommo not in a taxi?
Lack of planning and out the box thinking. Sack the bloody board……
Oh Rioirdon I think GS was talking about him when he mentioned players he couldn’t trust…….

Pre season friendlies a waste of time? Not for Marshall, Mulgrew, Wallace, Camara,Pearson and Virgo. Where did it all go wrong guys? Who did it go right for?
Tin hats on, here`s another one coming tomorrow. Still here Mr Thompson?

Aye or fringe playes seemed to have been deemed not good enough by the powers at be.
This should have been done in the summer not now.
Camara, Wallace and Virgo i can understand.
Marshall needs games so a loan deal is good.
Mulgrew?????
Pearo should not be allowed to leave. Are we that desperate for money?
Unless we replace him with Tommy G or Scott Broon.........
Thommo? Ur taxi's waiting what do you mean you need a seven seater for your luggage full of cash and ur pile cream.........
The squad is getting thinner and with no signs of replacements on the horizon yet.
Youth Team against the Paisley panda on Saturday me thinks.
Only Chelski tomorrow.....easy easy easy.
Remember no rebel songs bhoys.....

I`ve been thinking about that game, a 2-1 win that helped Celtic stop the 10. I think that it was a record crowd for the new Rugby Park. 18,700, compare that with the crowd when we visit next time. I can`t get too hopeful about sorting out Chelski but the players may raise their game, after all it won`t be our lot who will be posing about, will it? :-)

Looks like the coterie are claiming Telfer is for the off, Mo has gone as has AV on season long loans.
Wallace for the Blues, Pearo for Derby, Mulgrew for the off, Lenny linked with Villa with Thommo and Stan.
planning planning planning. What bit of it do they not understand/
Shellski for tomorrow night. Still a bit nervous (like going to Snake Mountain for the first time!), but will be OK after a few quiet ones before the match.
Hail hail one and all.

yardstick of the standard we are maybe........
Baldy-Watch yourself mate and if you meet a few guys from Stirling you don't know me......
Look forward to you blow by blow account of our visit to the bridge.
Hail Hail

Camara has gone, Petkov isn`t required, Mulgrew can leave. Either we haven`t a clue and no LB or someone is arriving soon?
Which way will the coin land?

sorry i have calmed down a bit now.
i think if lennon had been playing we would have kept the ball a lot more and would have had a lot better balance about us and i said this last week before the game that he should return so im no just saying it cos we got beat.
i also think he gives a lot of cover to both full backs and in the centre of defence which we could have done with.
agree its better for all if wallace, virgo, camara go and marshall does need games but when are we going to see some quality coming in.
this should all have been sorted out a few weeks ago at the latest.
baldy- where did u see that reg telfer.
i see bates has confirmed camara but there is nothing from celtic yet.

Fullback-less with no signs of any replacements.
Unsure who is coming or going as Pearo’s deal seems to be off now?
A left back who in the most kindest way possible has been told that we would rather go with no full backs than him………
MON huming and hawing about Stan.
General state of confusion.
Oh and a small matter of a battle of Britain, which we are not looking forward to.
Another day in the soap opera Celtic……….
