Tommy, Twists and Tommy Turns

So Tommy Burns has bailed oot on the SFA. The Scottish national team joab is looking more and more like an outpost for the unwanted and the unemployable. After the defection, but understandable according to the meeja, of the cardie and the fat playboy was meet with howls of traitor from the Tartan Army rank and file and also some sections of the meeja I wonder how Tommy twists, turn will be viewed.

Again it could be viewed that the pull of his 1st love was too great. He has something tangible to achieve at the hoops in his role as 1st team coach and his hand in the youth development program. Success in that field is his legacy something that he will be remembered for. It’s an exciting time to be a member of Celtic’s future, with Bobby Lennoxtoon coming on, and the liniment announcement of the Hibs boy joining up as heid scout.

TB seems to enjoy the hands on role that he gets with Celtic. He also seemed to enjoy the hands on role he had with Scotland. The fact he had the same role for 5 years and was overlooked for the main joab has had a bearing on his decision.

When Smith took over he turned to Burns once again to be a steadying influence in the dressing. Smith brought in the fat playboy as “striking coach” and Burns kept his assistant management role. Now when result started going oor way the meeja- more recently evidently- have laid the praise at the cardies and the fat playboy’s door.

They all over looked Burns part in this rejuvenation.

Even when the joab came up-and most other associations would have offered it to a man with Burns experience right away- the SFA talked of short lists other candidates and straight away the meeja launched a campaign to install the unemployable Big Feck- back by Sir beetroot face himself- in the post.

So it proved to be the final straw. Or maybe he seen the writing on the wall and doesn’t want to be associated wie Big Eck’s sinking ship of dignity.

But all in I’m glad he is still at CP. He is a vital cog in oor youth system. His loss would have been a hammer blow while the “baldy monk” loss was just a ripple on the water. While questions can be raised aboot his ability as a manager his reputation as a coach is second to none and we are lucky to have such a talented Celtic legend overseeing oor youths.

Tommy twists and Tommy Turns leaving the SFA looking like the naïve, clueless fools they are. If only Tommy Gravesan could do the same to SPL midfields……..

FORZA CELTIC

It`s not ideal to do your employment business in such a public way. I`m sure that TB will feel pangs about the Scotland position, missing out on trips to Italy and Georgia. :-/
Maybe being able to coach our players at CP during International weeks will help Thomas Graveses for example. :-)
Good news Kevin! You can get your ticket at CP for the Livi cup match. £18 a throw! I heard that it`s a unique stadium!
On to Celtic Park tomorrow, winning home games is the key to successfully retaining the title. Go for it, Bhoys!

Even though TB is comfortable at CP out of the limelight i think he maybe fancied the Scotland job.

Or maybe he just wanted to be offered the job though he really didnae want it.

Unsure, but he has laid his cards on the table now and it's all the better for us.

Livi- it's on Sky, which means me on the couch. Mrs G is already fuming at the price of the milano tickets canny justify another £18.00 on a game thats on the telly and a stadium i don't like.

And she is letting me go to Milan....but she is going with me:-)

Tomorrow will we see Jaro in the Tommy Sheridan role again or will GS go for a 4-3-3 with Riordon coming in?

Gulp!
What, no McGeady or Riordan? I think I would go with one of them and what about The Beats and Magic and Kenny?
Sign forwards in the window? Interesting to see how it will go without Lenny in midfield. I don`t think that he`ll be there next season. Time moves on and as previously said Sno is probably better as a box to boxer so the style of the team will change too.
For now it`s 3 points against St Mirren please!

On CQN, James Beattie at Ross Hall. Is that not a school?

Just checked the injury update on the official site. Big Mick is still a doubt as is Paul Lawson. Shaun Maloney is in light training. How long has that been the case?

it will be the case until he signs a new contract:-)

big mick is not that much of a loss the way o'dea and elvis have been playing.

James Beattie. Hopefully it's no Johnnie Beattie and his big board game.

Now ye see it now you don't.....

Iv got radio snide on and there is no mention of James or Johnnie Beattie being at Ross Hall...

Kevin, Why are we struggling to find the net?

I think one reason is because the midfield isn't sorted out yet. Maybe we're missing wee Shaun more than we think (any news, BTW?).

But I think tomorrow we could see a few goals now that Jan has had a run of games. I would try out Deek beside him (but I know it won't happen - probably Majic again with Beats on after an hour).

Not sure about injury situation, so I'd start with:

artur
paul-t
elvis (but Mick, if fit)
do'd
lee-n

amcg
jj
frosty
naka

jvofh
deek

Bench:
tg
majic
km
beats
defender?

My reason for Sno is that he is the direct replacement for Lennon, who will come straight back in for all the games up to & including Milan. I don't think TG/NL or Sno/NL works.
Mind you TG/JJ worked second half last week, when TG stuck to more of a holding role.

So sum up, I don't know!!!

But it's only St Mirren at home - let's see some flowing football and a few goals. Need to get the confidence high over the next few weeks.

Sixtaeseven, :-)
I can`t believe `it`s only St Mirren at home`! Don`t you know about karma? Being bit on the bum cannot be a pleasant experience. It`s an opportunity to go 3 points closer to the title but it will be difficult! :-0
Forza `Tic!

Agree- Magic will be up front with JVoH, GS will go with them as at the moment they are his 1st choice pairing.

You might see the beats starting if GS decides to go with a 4-3-3 as he has done recently when deek has played.

if thats the case you will see Sno and a.n other with a remit to protect the back 4. More probably Jaro would get this shout as the ogre from madrid is a bit of a bombscare playing that role.

The options to change are there but...will he change a winning team who gave a performance?

I suppose being bitten may be worse than being bit. :-/

It`s really amazing that the natural striking partnership hasn`t shone through yet. Scoring two seems to be the maximum these days. Can the team better that? Obviously an on form team would make winning the league a more straight forward event.

Ian - you're dead right and I take that back about 'only StMirren'. What I was thinking I think, is that I'm more concerned about the sequence of games coming up after tomorrow.
Some cracking games ahead though!

One thing about GS is that you never quite know what his team selection is going to be (compared with MON, for example). Plus he doesn't hesitate to make full use of his subs. Must be hard for his opposite number, which can't be a bad thing.

Mr Pressley captain again tomorrow, I suppose?

Hopefully the passing and movement will be a bit faster & in a more forward direction today.

News is a bit slow, probably due to the xfer window being as long as lent.

Enjoy the game & wrap up well if yoy're going - I'll be tuning in on C67.

Good win in the end today. Five goals is a rare occurrence and it made up for the cold weather.

Not on the score sheet but the Beats was excellent also praise for DO`D and McGeady for not giving up when he saw Riordan was coming on.

Celtic went through a sticky patch just after StM equalized just after half time.
It took until the substitution of Frosty for Jiri on the hour mark before we got the midfield moving again.
Jri still an enigman.
On the plus side, I thought Tommy-G had one of his better games for Celtic - obviously been told to knuckle down.

The Jan & Beattie partnership looking promising - it will get better as Craig gets a few more games under his belt.
I mucj prefer to persevere with Beats rather than bring in Lefferty or the Man called Horse.

In the end, very comfortable winners but really we could have avoided the wee scare, 'cos the game should have been well sewn up by half-time.

Erm, glorious weather here in Paris... might take the wee yin to see PLG's new team today in the cup.

Sixtaeseven- did you read ma match review before i wrote it? Spooky.....

Anyway my PSG badge- given to me by my PSG mates- got a few looks and comments yesterday in the Springfield Vaults.

Most thought it was because PLG is the new manager there and it was some type of tribute.....

Agree stick wie the beats we don't need the horse.

Now other beattie could be a useful addition but is his medical still going on......
