The Lotw Diary- Friday
Wie wee Gordie now on hospital leave, it puts, us, the doubters, in a strange position. While we were all wondering how he would pick up the troops after the trampling under the foot of the wilderbeasts last Saturday. The wee man has slipped us a shimmy and left the team in the capable hands, hopefully, of Pendry and Burns.
Now I think it’s shocking that a man that gets paid a fair amount of wonga a season can decided to bring forward his operation at a critical time. Critical as the team have a Cup Final to prepare for and, lets not beat aboot the outback here, are ten pailfull of wilderbeast dung at the moment on the park.
Is it any wonder that the team have been unprofessional over the last few weeks when we see decisions like this being made?
Anyway, how can we mump, moan and berate his team selection if he is not there? If the two in charge decide to go wie the usual suspects instead of throwing in a few Kaiser Sosa’s then who can blame them? They’re only organ grinders to GS’s monkey.
Surely he will have had a breakfast meeting, power lunch or brunch wie his cohorts and told them what to do, who to play, who not to play and that they need to give Kenny a game cause we are trying to get cash for him? Oh, and that Hartley needs a medal and the Grav only gets paid if he plays so he is to get kept on the bench?
Suddenly the thought of spending the afternoon in the London Road Tav seems unattractive. The thought of seeing how the mice play when the cats away is appealing. Wonder if TB is franticly phoning Paulo, Jorge and Thom asking if they fancy a run oot. Wonder if he is dusting doon his blueprint of 4-1-5 systems and pinning it on the board?
Years of working under, cautious managers for want of a better word, like Vogts and Strachan and also his wisdom, due to his advancing years, that the 4-1-5 system was entertaining but sheer folly at times has, probably, dulled his mindset like the grey has dulled his ginger barnet.
The fact that he is presiding over a team, who died in a muggy night in Milan and are Kaka’d will mean a cautious, softly, softly approach, which should breed confidence rather than re-capturing the spirit of 96. And also that the sheepies need a result and will be up for it.
Only one thing is guaranteed tomorrow. Neil Lennon will play. Well, I say play; he will be on the park so we can say cheerio to him, if you believe the PR hype. I’m sure really if you asked Neil he would never have wanted his last home game to be sparsely attended and meet wie general apathy.
Well, you and yer mates have made that rod for yer own backs Neil. You have been unprofessional and when the fans see you not caring less, not entertaining why should we bother turning up? Off course most will turn up, we have paid for the game, but I’m sure Lenny is mair looking forward to the cup final farewell than tomorrow.
Mind you, apart from the Ghod of Larsson, all farewells of the MON stalwarts have been muted to say the least. Saint Martin of O’Neill’s cup final was the worst in living memory mainly due to coming on the back of the worst day in oor history.
Comparisons from that season to this can be made however tedious they maybe. But we won the cup that day. Maybe an omen? Poorly performing team wins poor cup final to give a stalwart one last hurrah?
That’s to be worried aboot later though.

You may not remember Tommy Burns playing with one forward,( Andy Walker who had about half a dozen fouls against him fo pushing)against Dundee United at Hampden in October 1994(?)when a young Kenny Clark added on the two minutes at the end to allow Walker to steal a 1-0 win. It was DIRE! >:~(
One up? May be okay for Scotland and Kenny Miller but the real world? As Amy Winehouse might say, `they wanted us to play with one up, I said no,no,no!` :-/
A speedy recovery to our esteemed manager, is that what Brian Quinn calls him? :-)
Ian
six mentioned selective memory earlier. i have selective memory of ma 1st season wie a season book at Hampden. so no i can't remember that:-)
but i can remember a game against the sheep being terrible. played on a sunday and TB said he wanted us to play like Real Madird.
instead we played like Real Bonnybrig welfare....
BQ calls GS that as he disnny knock doon the door asking for cash. Unlike the other one he had to deal wie....
oh the Amy Winehouse pun...i like that...
"gs wanted to sign elvis, and i said no, no, no"
Looking on the bright side, it could actually be a good game tomorrow.
Aberdeen have something to play for but I've got a sneaky feeling that Celtic could score a few - long overdue, but I think tomorrow is the day we forget the one up front experiment and get back on track.
Should be interesting to see how Dunfermline hold out under pressure: they are playing like men possessed right now. If we do get back on track, there could be a great final to look forward to.
Non event of the WE is of course RFCvKFC.
However, for once I'm kinda hoping for a HFC win tomorrow to set up an "interesting" sheeps V huns next week.

Hope we do score a few and get a decent performance. Been saying that for weeks or even months now.
The Pars are the FORM team in Scotland but if at the end of the day it means nothing then you could see a deflated shell of a side 26th May.
Och. It’s no a non event at the brox. It’s a chance to say cheerio to Poorshow and Santa. Bet they get a full hoose. Moonbeams and hope.
Anyway ma team for tomorrow in a 4-3-1-2
Brown, Mo- sorry Doumbe, O’Dea, Kennedy, Mick, Grav, Lenny, Bjarnason, Aiden, Deek and JVOH.
The goalie is the token ex-ger we have to have in the line up now:-)
That team line up would get me oot the pub...
Is Zurawski and/or Sno available again?
I hope it turns out to be as entertaining as you are hoping.
Ian
No and No.
Might have seen the last of Magic but the frosty man is in for a big future, hopefully, next season.
Regarding Cup final - hospitality ticket is my only hope for the moment. 200 notes could be cause for divorce but I'm dithering.
I need advice from fellow numpties.
six
i'm now worried. i haven't got an offer letter yet and i kind of expected one.
the celtic site has not been updated for a few weeks regarding the allocation of tickets.
until then i'm a fellow numptie as well unlike ian who has his ticket....
Is next week still a cup final rehearsal?
If I am offered a ticket by Celtic I will certainly make it available!
Teddy Bjarnason must play tomorrow!
Come on the Celts!
Tommy Burns goes to Iceland..hopefully...
Not sure about this, but in absence of the wee Gord (whose hip injury is a result of kicking folks derrieres, I hope) is Mr Pendry not next in line, before the fabled TG?
I must admit that the prospect of a garry pendry lineup doesn't do much for the taste buds compared with a tommy burns one, but what do I know.
Only a fool would predict a Celtic lineup. So here's mine:
Boruc,
Doumbe, O’Dea, McManus, Naylor,
Grav, Lenny, Bjarnason, Aiden,
Deek and JVOH.
After 60:
Hartley replaces Lennon cos he needs games for medal & Lenny gets home sendoff.
Naka replaces Aiden to keep things ticking away.
Miller replaces HoopyHound cos the guy inside the suit will be desperate for a pint.
Well, TB done the press thingy so for me he is the boss.
Going to watch TB's celtic, where's ma bumble bee top....
And GP getting listed as a Celtic Manager is up there wie Frank Connor- only unbeaten manager in oor history right enough- so i'll go for Joe Jordan but was he the manager for a game?
Heck it was confusing at that time....
Six
yer line up is good and could be right but i think we will see JFK and Miller will start as hoopy.
No fool Six! At least they are all signed players!
Come on the Bhoys!
I hope entertainment makes an appearance today.
Come on the Celts!
Seems Lenny has decided to drop out today, so how will the TB Opus Dei XI line up ?
Would like to see the following team:
Boruc,
Doumbe, Kennedy, McManus, Naylor,
Grav, Hartley, Bjarnason, Aiden,
Deek and JVOH.
Steel and pace, and hopefully a few goals here.
Time to play like champions !!!
Contrary to the fish wrappers, Lenny did play -- and very well at that.
Better show today although we were guilty of getting ourselves into trouble: losing the ball in bad positions and putting the defense under presuure, which they didn't always deal with convincingly.
The Mick/JFK combo didn't look good.
However, I would sign JoeD right now and, for me, would start in the final. Yes, we know he won't as it will be medals for the usual suspects (Caldwell and Pressley & co).
Also, credit where it's due, Miller played well. But what can you say about Beattie, ... words fail me.
Altogether, a good performance against a team that really had something to play for - so no self-flagellation this weekend. But what would we do without the Pole in the Goal?
A win is a win but a better defence is needed! Still, a confidence boost but no Teddy. :-( Maybe next week.
I saw the first half hour of Wolves v WBA and I was amazed by the pace on both teams. Very impressive!
Beat this R*ngers!
Penalties awarded against them in two consecutive home league games?
First again Celts!
new post
Evander Sno (NOTE: one syllable, Frosty has two!)is hoping top make a comeback before the end of the season. He has done well this season but should watch out/ stop swinging his arms around! :-)
