Hail To The Thief or Praise The Kaiser Chief
Now the transfer window has nearly slammed shut, it is now a good time to have a look at where we, Glesga Vienna and Kanus of Midlothian are. Truth is the fact that I have called them Glesga Vienna and Kanus of Midlothian say’s it all.
Message to the fourth estate- There will be no massive spend of JJB money at ipox and Romanov is a false dawn to our friends in the east. Both have a link nasty fans and crooked chairmen. Allegedly.
Us? Well our doubts that the board were penny pinching descendents of the Kelly and White dynasty have been firmly put to bed with an overall spend nudging the 8 million mark. But with savings a net spend of only £1 million. Anyone for a biscuit as the tin is open.
While I feel there is still cause for some criticism, albeit pernickety, I grudgingly applaud Peter Lawell for his poker face and hard nosed negotiating skills, which has seen players courted by clubs with more spending power, ending up at us.
The criticism I feel only lays with the fact the business has been done when the season started, we went on a world tour to pay for these players, or PR leaves a lot to be desired, our image was badly by this world tour and hefty defeats to lesser opposition and we had to sell the best midfielder in Scotland to allow the money to be freed.
In a radio interview with Radio Snide Lawell or Kaiser Sose said that we didn’t need to sell Stan to fund deals. Well, we did buy JvoH and Naylor, before Stan left, but that outlay and the hold up for Tommy G proves to me that Stan P leaving was vital to those deals going through.
The Kaiser took a risk knowing the inner workings of MON and gambled that if the money weren’t here by the 31st Aug then it would be here in Jan. He knew how much MON wanted the Bulgur and was willing to wrangle every god dam dime from Randy Learner to ensure we only spent £1 million in our transfer dealings.
Smart eh?
So for £1 million net spend we have basically ended up with the strongest squad in years, the wage bill has decreased, the age of the squad has decreased and we now have players who will still have sell on value after 2 years.
Double smart eh?
On top of that we have had the biggest selling Celtic top and another new away top released that these signings ensure will fly out the door due to the feel good factor, which has washed over the club. Add to that the £15 deal to get big Jvoh on the back of your top then it’s been a great week on and off the park.
Smoke and mirrors springs to mind but this pre-season and transfer window spend can only be judged by the results on the park. And that’s the hard part.
Surely GS canny mess up with the strongest squad we have had in years?
Hail Hail

We can have a good season but there are things we need to do better, witness our away results!
Just stay away from the treatment tables Bhoys!

Just remembered. There was a Dutch journalist on Radio Scotland last night and he said that JVoH was from a strongly Catholic town and was especially attracted to Celtic because of that.
The Dutch just say what they think!

Make extra money? Looks like PL and board have infiltraited the site.
So the Dutch journo said this did he? The meeja here won't like that- Celtic signing quality because of their background....oh dear.
Does that mean Tommy G has a relatives in Donegal.........

At work at the moment and the radio has the dulcet tones of messers walker, johnstone et all.
Must say what a tuneless dirge “flower of Scotland” is. Sounded like a cat in a washing machine.
A lot better than the Proclaimers right enough.

I usually go to scotland games but I couldn`t stand to see my beloved Celtic Park full of drunken kilties. The SFA website had asked the fans to arrive early because of `the fact that many supporters will be unfamiliar with Celtic Park`. 6-0 is a good score but I won`t expect anything like that when I go to the France match next month.
England are already 2-0 up and Ian Wright was behaving very badly before the game. His mental age is getting lower and lower!

Well in work again today, so wife went into the shop today on my way here. She came out with a Sunday R*nger. Said because she heard Petrov’s story was it in she bought it.
I have had a read of it, took me all of 5 mins and it’s complete and utter sh*te. Nothing new, and if you’ve been following the Stan P story you’ve heard it all before.
That’s not the worst thing, on the back page the opening salvo is “big hearted boydchenko made sure Our Kenny scored his 1st goal of 2006” Oh pandering to the new 21st century Coisty.
Aye CP looked a sorry site yesterday I must admit. I did wonder though if the London road Tav was belting out the “party” tunes for the Tartan army like they do for us.
Said it before and I say it again, even though Wrighty said we were the best fans he played under, it is a disgrace that he is an ex celtic player. A disgrace that our broad sanctioned a move for that has been.
Wright is the reason we hate the English meeja. Him, smary Shearer and jump the dyke Hansen. Wright is a stereotypical Englander that you meet by the pool on a Spanish costa. Except he is not white hasn’t got a bull dog tattoo, a heifer of a wife with a tattoo on the base of her back, and a voice that goes right through you just want to drown him at the 1st opportunity.
I know not all English people are like that, I have meet a lot of good English people. But….show me a person that hasn’t meet a wrighty Englander?

I think there are people in the English media who cannot fathom how West Ham signed 2 top Argentinians. The Sky Sports news reporter was implying that young Tevez didn`t even know West Ham`s nickname but according to my limited Spanish he said `the iron` and that`s what their fans call them, so what`s the problem? Or is the motto of SSN not to let accuracy spoil a good story?
As for Petrov, he did well for us but the idea of a player not able to perform because he doesn`t want to be here. How did Hartley manage it?

As far as I know it was Darren Fletcher(I`d love to see him in his beloved hoops!) who decided that KM would take the penalty. 6-0 was good but Georgia did that too and France whacked them 3-0. Game on in Lithuiania!
The Germans are a shower of hacking, diving chancers. The treatment of Damien Duff was ridiculous. The ref made sure that the big team won, to ensure his favour with UEFA. International football? You gotta love/hate it!

The rumour was that Darren Fletcher was on a wanted list and Paddy Creand said on Celtic Tv the other night that Fletcher is a massive Hoops fan. Aye for one are hoping he falls foul of the redfaced loon soon.
Stan P- I fully back GS for the league trophy fiasco now. Now Stan must have said to him he wasn’t motivated, so his performance in that Hibs game probably did deserve a wee roasting at half time. The player admitted he wasn’t trying a leg so you can’t let him away with it.
Scotland- a draw in Lithuiania will be a good result.
Ireland- never saw the game, but international ref’s always favour the home nations. Did Aiden get a game?
West Ham- There is something dodgy about that deal, but SSN are well out of order just because he didn’t exactly say “Mon the hammers” “Kness up mother brown” and “I’m forever blowing bubbles”
I mean that would be like asking Jvoh to tell us about Celtic’s background and heritage………
I mean I know it was a different age but how did spurs sign ardiles and villia? Signing South Americans is fraught with danger. More agents than avon and dodgier than Romanov.
It will end in tears.

Sharp as a tack with the JVoH comment! :-)
Aiden did come on near the end but by then Ireland were launching the ball up field. He did have a little cameo in his own half where he did a nice sidestep and sent a great pass to the left wing. I think their next game is in Cyprus next month.
I would take Tevez but that doesn`t mean that I don`t recognise that West Ham could be hampered by trying to accomodate him. He will be accused of diving before September is out!

Yes the English press will have a field day with an Argentinean diving all over the shop. Will be interesting to see if he is successful in the EPL. South Americans struggle to adapt and a wee move to La Liga or Italy could be on the cards sooner than West Ham fans hope.
Nice to Aiden getting a cameo as that means less chance of being injured, he has been important to us and is finding the killer pass more and more now.
Must dash got relatives to visit in Kirkie and maybe a slight pintage later……..
Adios
Ps remember site might be down tomorrow or next day

I wouldn`t say that Brazil or Argentina played well for the 90 minutes but it was a good match and the goal by Kaka was a gem. A few tasty tackles near the end of the game and the ref did well to keep it 11v11.
