“It’s The Quiet Ones That Kill Yer Friends”

Fairly quiet week on the old tic front his week. No box office signings, no sign of the diminutive Shaun signing the contract on offer, a loan shark signing and again the meeja focusing on Wallies tartan revolution without questioning motives or signings.

Makes trying to have a rant or an opinion or a comment difficult a bit like a musician getting writers block this blogger has news block and opinion block.

May as well start wie the new bhoy on the block that we have sign defensive cover, albeit only on loan, in the shape of Jean Joel Perrier Doumbe (JJPD) from Rennes. The Cameroon international can play either right or left back but again confusion surrounds due a dubious claim from his agent Mr McKay that he played in two world cups.

Certain sites and contributors have poured scorn on this, me, I canny be arsed researching if it’s true or not the professional lay aboot that I am. I’m not to bovered if he has or has not; it’s what he does in the next few months that bother me.

While hardly a signing to set the heather on fire and have us sing hosanna’s from the rooftops we need cover in those areas and we have a short-term solution.

He must have impressed in the trial for GS to give him a short contract and the fact that we have 1st dibs on him in the summer may prove to be a guid thing if he proves to be any guid.

Downside is that Mario Melchiot, the ex chelski and Birmingham bombscare has kept him oot the Rennes side this year. Also the fact that he seems to have maybe missed our vast scouting network, hence the trial and only a short contract.

As ma maw say’s it all will come oot in the wash.

Another great bit of news was on the John F Kennedy front as the big fellow played a full 90 mins against an Ayr Utd cloggers select at Somerset Park. Now, we seem to be thinking the big fellow could return to the player he was and that a return could be sooner than we think.

I canny see him being rushed back in. The boy O’Dea has probably saved GS from having that thought and the signing of Elvis has probably now mean’s that JFK should be looking to a decent pre-season wie the 1st team and pushing for a place next season.

At the start of next season we will or could have Bobo, Caldwell, Elvis, Mick, Kennedy, O’Dea all vying for two spots. And that’s not counting on GS not signing anyone else, which he might do as do any of the above have the European quality we require in that position?

Now wee Shaun Maloney has been the debate of much wailing and gnashing of teeth this week. The wee fellows supposed refusal to sign the deal we have on the table and his agent refusal to appear round the parkheid coffee table for talks, tea and custard creams has got us all in a fizz.

I read article last night about Jean Marc Bosman the man who changed fitba forever cause he never got a move to a French 2nd division mob. Unlike others who followed, Bosman is skint and living on the broo in Belgium. The article paints a picture of a bitter man who in desperation allowed the said publication to publish his bank account details so if any rich fitbawers wanted to donate some of their pickings to him then they could.

Players and clubs benefit from this ruling players get rich and clubs get guid players without paying a fee. It works both ways. Except from a fans perspective the player always looks the greedy one.

But, if Shaun decides to leave why should we begrudge him? He owes us nothing just the same way that we owe oor employers nothing if a better offer came along. Shaun is just looking after himself in the usually post bosman selfish fitbawers way. The law says what he is doing nothing wrong but the ruling has allowed the evil of agents to turn young boys heids when contracts are up from renewal.

Now maybe Maloney, believes, or has been told, that he should be in the top earner bracket at CP. ONE decent season, which saw him blossom into the player he threatened to be followed by an injury hit follow up probably suggests differently.

I don’t know nada of what wages the players are on, only what you and me read by supposed guys in the know on the net. But I would suspect that Maloney has asked for £1 million a year basic but Celtic as per the line cast by PL will offer below that but bonuses will maybe take him above that figure.

Now if Shaun is a gambler then he might take this offer on the prospect of earning above his basic year in year oot if he believes the club is going to give him that opportunity. Then again he might see the less risky option of taking an EPL clubs money, which guarantee’s him probably over and above his wanted basic.

Another factor is the Aiden and Riordon factor. Maloney is not guaranteed a game every week now. The fact that he is thinking of not signing has left a lot of Celtic supporters un perplexed due to the presence of these two peroxide upstarts.

I hate it when we lose players that come through the ranks. It is like a knife in the heart to me. I think we fail the club when a young player leaves as he thinks he has better options elsewhere. Usually they go one to do nothing- Liam Miller being the prime example or regrets leaving like Stan P.

Now while I agree Shaun shouldn’t be in the top earners a deal should be on the table to keep this talented wee bugger at the club. The bonus and incentives should be so great that he should believe he should achieve them. If Celtic have undersold the wee man and made a pitch at you know you really want to stay heart strings than more fool them.

Dirty cash talks.

But if the wee man leaves we have cover in his area whom are probably on lesser wages than he requires. So it’s really a case of great if you stay but if you leave don’t let the door hit your arse on the way oot.

Och, was going to mention inversenkie at the weekend but lunchtime is up. So ma preview of the inversenkie game is they are a big team who gie us a hard game:-) and it will be cauld.

For a week wie no news I certainly waffled on……..

Forza The Hoops

If Shaun decides to go for more money then, a conversation would probably include, `I can understand you making that choice` but as part of a crowd advising him from a wee distance, `away ye go ya greedy wee rotter`
Such is life.
Meantime the newspapers are encouraging Rangers to splash the cash before next Wednesday night. Shall we go on Martin O`Neill watch instead?
As for Sunday, this will be as difficult as they come. We have still to win there, so lets do it!
Come on the Bhoys!

I need to catch up on this Hibby situation. Would Celtic be signing them to play in the 1st eleven?
I suppose that them have some dosh after selling Clement (whom I wouldn`t know in a crowd of 1). Did he play against the Bhoys?
It`s a possibility that Perrier-Doumbe will play to give Naylor or The T-Meister a break.
Quite a change in defence over the past couple of months. It was playing against ICT that Caldwell was injured.
Come on the Bhoys! (again)

Unsure if the new Platini played against the bhoys.....

Again Ian i can't answer if they would be 1st team players THIS season but GS seems to want them so and is willing to blow his budget on them so HE must see them as 1st team players.....

Clovenhoof of the Herald sometimes signs his articles 'Chief Football Writer at Ibrox' - he has no credibility and is obviously a prize poodle.
Spiers used to be good but he's kinda disappeared of the radar or has been told not to annoy Ironsides any more.

Can't remember if Platini played against the Tic (don't think so) but he knows who we are alright. I've seen him often as a pundit on French TV Canal+ on CL nights. He ofetn raves about the European night atmosphere at CPark, and I remember him slapping down a wee presenter guy who was treating the Tic as if they were some wee team in Europe, saying 'Celtic a big, big team, make no mistake' and giving him a look that said 'do you know anything aboot fitba', son?'.

Who are we hoping to win today - Hearts for me, with a few reds for each of these dark, dark sides.
Also a win for the Sheepies would keep the race for 2nd wide open.

The 0-0 draw has reduced our target to 83 points, so this weekend has been successful already! Hopefully the Bhoys can get closer to that at Inverness today. It won`t be easy.

I told y`all that it would be difficult in Inverness. :-0
At least Riordan is still fit for the next game. I think that`s Beattie, Miller and Magic injured, hopefully minor Knocks.
Pressley is crocked too! :-)

Beattie's injury is the big worry -hate to say it but that could be it for that young man. Hope he can take some inspiration from someone like Gerrard who had similar problems but kept at it (probably with the same level of medical attention as Craig will get).

Maybe time to try out Jan and Deek up front together against Livinston?

As for NL&TG, doesn't work for me.
Jiri was rotten when he came on.
Our midfield is a real conundrum (izat a word?). Maybe we really do need a change of personnel in that department - folk from the east coast could do the trick, maybe?

Kevin must be working on a new post. :-)
There is a rest from the league until 10th February and without JVoH the Hibs game will be much more difficult. What`s big Dion doing with himself?
